The passion of Jesus Christ teaches us to be like the suffering servant.
He served the people, preaching about God and the Good News. He looked upon everyone with love and mercy, even the tax collectors and adulterers. He taught His disciples to serve with gladness in their hearts for, indeed, there’s joy in service.
He taught His disciples about faith in the will of the Lord. Even when he was suffering and until His death, His trust in God didn’t waver.
The suffering servant sees with eyes of faith. He trusts in the will of the Lord. He forgives and doesn’t harbor resentment. When they ridiculed and hurt Him, Jesus didn’t curse them. Instead, He said: “Father, forgive them. They do not know what they are doing.”
If everyone in this world today would be like the suffering servant, wouldn’t this world finally find the peace that has long eluded it?
