Mo(u)rning

On Monday morning (EDT), we woke up to the sad news of our aunt’s passing. She was 69 years old. She was a very generous woman who gave so much of herself to the family. Her generosity made her the loving and submissive wife, the caring mother and grandmother, the welcoming sister and aunt that all of us came to know. I will never forget how she takes her food and her stories: with A LOT of gusto. She smiled a lot, even when you know she’s had a not-so-great day.
If she could, she would tell us not to worry about her. That’s just the way she is.

Today, we lost a generous heart. Yet, God’s love continues to shine, just like the sun. In the midst of mourning, God reminds us that He is merciful and kind and has given our aunt the peace that she deserves after her battle. In the midst of mourning, God reminds us that we still have our mornings, that we are alive, that we have the opportunity to be more like our generous aunt.

I’m thanking God today for allowing me to cross paths with someone like you, Tita Myr. May you rest in peace.
